Made by Royal Talens (Netherlands), Amsterdam Standard Series sits in the mid-range studio/professional tier of the Amsterdam brand — a step below its Expert Series (which Totenart doesn't currently stock) but still built with high-grade pigments and a satin finish. Its medium viscosity sets it apart from a fluid acrylic ink (much thinner, made for airbrush or very fine glazing) and from a heavy body acrylic (much thicker, made for pure impasto work). That makes it a versatile all-rounder: thin it with water for glazes, or apply it straight from the tube for good opaque coverage.
Amsterdam offers 10 special shades exclusively in the 120 ml tube: six metallics (silver, light gold, dark gold, copper, bronze and pewter) and four fluorescent reflex colours (yellow, orange, pink and green). Silver, light gold and dark gold are also available in a 500 ml jar for anyone using them as a base colour. They're ideal for highlights, light effects, mixed media and bold decorative finishes.
The 120 and 250 ml tubes are ideal for trying out a new colour or for smaller-format work. The 500 and 1000 ml jars pay off with the shades you go through fastest — whites, earth tones and blacks — which tend to run out before the rest of the palette.
